Default Rutland - Anyone catching?

Hi all

Anyone finding fish at Rutland since Wednesday? It's been that awkward westerly so i've fished the noted suitable places yeaterday and today, East creek, New zealand point, Barnwell creek and point etc, and not seen a single fish move or jump, let alone get a take. I know Normanton bank is stuffed with fish (strong wind in your face), but these other area's are mentioned in the weekly report, but seem devoid of fish.

Normally at least see some fish leaping at range in the middle, but nothing.

Any idea's anyone?

As you say the other areas seem devoid of fish They are there but are not showing In front of the church, bouy 13,there seems to be fish sitting, with a few being caught.
I have been on the bank and boat over the past week and have seen very little movement of fish anywhere on the water.
I suspect that the majority are sitting in the main basin but with the constantly changing winds, mainly from the west, and the tempreture drop not to mention the weather the fish are not switched on fully yet
Still no harm in trying

I know you say since Wed Thor but I was there last Sunday and we found a pod of fish between the church and the first lot of trees moving towards the dam, well within casting range of the bank. Crunchers were our successful pattern, but a D/B also took fish.

Yeah, i got them Andy, had a few there last monday morning before work. Since then though been struggling to find a fish at other locations, where as 2 weeks ago could catch anywhere from the bank, and see fish moving and jumping. All seems to have gone very quiet.

I fished Rutland on Saturday from a boat. After discussion with my boat partner we decided to stick it out down the South Arm in the hope of a few better fish rather than fishing for the stockies in the basin.

We were the ONLY boat in the whole of the South Arm for large portions of the day (should have told us something ). The water quality looked to be very good and conditions were not bad with several sustained overcast spells.

We drifted for most of the day between Hideaway and Green Bank, and Lax Hill to Old Hall. I reckon we probably only saw 4 fish move all day! We fished from about 11a.m. to 7.30p.m. and finished the day with 2 pulls for one fish between the two of us, although the fish we caught was a fin-perfect over-wintered rainbow of 3lb taken on Bibio Hopper, right out in the open water.

We both remarked that there seemed to be something not right about the day. We are both season ticket holders and have fished the water regularly over the years; I can't remember the last time I've seen it as dead as this. I can only suggest that the recent heavy rain has introduced a lot of additional water, both pumped in and from the streams/run-off, and this may have affected the fish. Let's hope that this isn't the pre-cursor to the South Arm going the same way as the North Arm has in the last 10 years.

Graham.

Went out (bank) Mon 30th evening, tried Yellowstone & Disabled Pontoon to May tree bank. Had 1 follow - when reeling in rapidly to move on! Spoke with farmer, 3-4 fishing off 3 trees/finches - nowt! I have not seen the yellow labrador wagging its tail for a few weeks!

I don't think it's a problem with Rutland alone, a number of venues I've fished lately have been exactly the same, sometimes perfect conditions , but no fish moving, a distinct lack of buzzers as well , hence no fish moving.
I think the weather has a lot to do with it

If you see a chap (regularly seen on the penisular) with a Yellow Lab, when he catches the dog starts wagging its tail - hence I have not seen much wagging going on lately!

Any good at the church?

I think I will nip out for a hour tonight, need the casting practice.
