ArcticFoxFly is on a distinguished road
Default Excellent day with Oliver Edwards' "Snappy Poodle"

I fished Fewston Res. on Monday 16th July. I started off with a pheasant tail nymph and caught myself a rainbow trout by using the 'figure-of-eight' VERY slowly almost dead drift.

I then tied on this 'Poodle', and OH MY GOD, you should have seen the fish going for it. It was unbelievable to see. On my first cast I lost a fish. I then caught one fish.
Then I varied my strip with a fast strip, and I saw a V-shaped wave just behind my fly, it struck once and made a boil in the water. I stopped stripping and then started again, and the fish took the fly. It wriggled on the surface to get the hook loose and..... it came free

I lost at least 5 fish to this lure. I also caught 2 brownies with it, with one almost going up a tree. lol. My god their soooo lively.
I caught one 7" perch too!

I used one lure which was black and one white. I found the black lure to be more productive.

If you want a good productive fly, then I would tie Oliver Edwards "Snappy Poodle. (I actually used my own variation of it.)
