Default Ravensthorpe 16.7.07

Arrived mid-morning and fished until 6.00 p.m. Quite bright at times but clouds in the afternoon brought a few showers. Light, varialble southerly wind.

Spent until lunch time drifting across the top half with dries. Had quite a few splashy rises to my flies but only one led to a hook-up. Saw plenty of fish rising along the margins of the weed beds on the south bank so anchored up here for a while and took several nice fish on a 12s Claret Hopper. When things quitened down here, went back to drifting and flicking out dries. Had a couple more fish which took the Claret Hopper with lovely slow motion head-and-tail. Returned to the weed beds for the last 90 minutes and picked up a few more fish on the Claret Hopper and a tiny marabou tailed damsel nymph casting in front of rising fish.

Once again, the fish were in superb condition, ranging between 2 and 3lbs.

Sounds like its doing well - and top of the water, too.

I was thinking of going next week (I've never been). Can you get permits at the lodge there? Or do you have to go to Pitsford? Also, do they sell rod licenses? Any information appreciated.

Cheers,

A. Gregory
