Thumbs up Gladhouse Reservoir (Midlothian)

Hi folks

I've just signed up for this, and was wondering if anyone has any recent experiences of fishing Gladhouse ? I believe that it is once again available to the public (via a chap called Drew Kirk ?). Can ayone confirm this ... and what is the cost.... is the boat booking for the entire day & evening or is it sessions ?

Many thanks

I fished it last season a couple of times. You can get tickets from a house on the road from Temple going towards the Peebles road - just before you turn left down to Gladhouse. The prices and arrangements were pretty much the same as when ESW had the fishing. The new set-up is not publicised very much and they seem to want to keep it low-key. If you want more precise details I can let you have them.

Wasn't it always? I believe the lease was changing hands due to increasing charges by the (unprintable) Scottish Water Authority but I thought it was always available to the public.

I can't give you any up to date info but it is a cracking reservoir, very naturalised with some real cracking big broonies coming out.
Try this link for something from this year. Try the rest of the mag for a good read.

Thanks for the reply, Traprain. Yes, any other details would be much appreciated. My regular boat partner and I would like to try a couple of 'browns-only' outings, and since Carron is now a mixed fishery, that really only leaves Vennacher (which we also intend to sample).

Kind regards

WFM

Thanks Ardbeg .... looks to be a good mag too !! My understanding is that it was unavailable for the public for at least 1 season (2004 ?) ... but could be wrong. Anyway, I'll give it a bash soon. Thanks again

weeflyman if you are a wild broonie man, a cracking site is http://www.wild-fishing-scotland.co....ent.php?page=1 join the forum as that's the same fowk that write the e-mag.

You could be correct about the unavailability as SW were in a state of flux around that time.

cheers
