Default Farmoor June 30th

I went to Farmoor today, in spite of the weather forecast and a rod average somewhere between 1 and 2 this week, "why would I care about the average" I happily muttered to myself on the way up the M40.

Well, pride comes before a fall as I never had a single pull and although the weather was not as bad as it had been suggested I packed up after four hours pretty convinced I would not catch unless I stayed till the evening which was not an option.

There were a few fish rising occasionally, but I went through most options, nymphs, washing line, boobies on the bottom, the bung and a few casts on dries but of the nine or ten anglers fishing there only two fish caught by lunchtime, one on a static booby and one on a black hopper.

There are lots of fish in there and the staff are clearly disappointed with the way it is fishing, but I think it is just a function of the variable wetaher and influx of rain water and I think it will fish really well in a few weeks.

Nowhere seems to be fishing well right now.

Hi Charlie,

>>Nowhere seems to be fishing well right now.<<

I was going to put a post up to see if it is just me but I've noticed it too. The Blythe was still pretty unfishable yesterday so I went to Packington.

Conditions looked near perfect...ripple, overcast etc. but no one caught a damn thing!!! I had one on, briefly, skittering a French Partridge across the surface but it was a fluke.

Met a man who had come to Pack. as his usual place, Lechlade, was having a tough time so it does seem to be pretty widespread.

Going to try Thornton on Tuesday...seems to be holding up.

Yes, most venues are fishing poorly right now, given the cloud cover and lower than normal temps it is odd - trout cannot know it's raining

I have heard of Grafham, Rutland, Pitsford and Hanningfield all being poorer than one would expect.
