Default Stenhouse fishery, Nr Burntisland.

Managed to get along to Stenhouse today for a few cats and meet a couple of lads from the forum.

What a difference, i last visited few years back and place a was bit run down, owners attitude **** too. However, the new owner is spot on the money!!

He has been working very hard and the fishery looks much much better. He assured me there was plenty fish in, having looked at his catch book, plenty being caught to. HE is currently renovating the boats too.

Went for 4hr C+R, £12 which is ideal. After meeting Garyj and Davie from the forum, who had had fish i tackled up and got stuck in. Had fish to apps bloodworm and black apps bloodworm, static on a floating line or with a very slow retrieve. Fish scrapped very well and in cracking condition. Fish below was my mates, took a orange FAB on the surface, stripped my mate to backing!

Gary went to other side and icould see was hitting fish and Davie took another as i was leaving.

Great wee place and seems to have a decent, honest owner who is keen to get the reputation up again so go try it and i am sure you will enjoy it.
Also has a decent wee lodge with a wood stove on which was great, some flies for sale and a full range of bank/boat C+R/kill tickets to suit all at very good prices!

seems like a good venue being brought back to life. were you fishing from the bank, and would you say that waders are needed.

As Stevie says, a great wee water and well stocked. It was nice meeting yourself (and your friendly collie) and Davie today.
I ended up with 7 landed and a good 5 missed. 5 on a Gold hothead Nomad and 2 on the far bank with a goldhead damsel, best fish probably around the 4lb mark and all in nice condition.
I think Davie got 5 but will confirm this himself.
I can see this being a fantastic dry and buzzer water in the warmer months, it averages 3m deep and easily accessed with waders.

For £14 C&R on a 6 hour ticket, not bad at all.

Gary

Nice one Gary, we could see you getting fish, i would have stayed longer but didn't realise how cold it was when i left this morning, esp down the wind.

It certainly has fantastic potential and is going in the right direction to achieve it!

You can wade if you want, i wasn't today and fished from the bank and contacted fish no probs, distance wise, plus it was freezing today so didn't fancy that option.

Steve.

Floating line, bloodworm and static or very slow figure of eight mate, shouldn't go wrong!
