Default Doe Park Res, Denholme nr. Keighley

Does anyone know how to get to this water. I tried to find it today, but couldn't. I was going to ask someone, but there were hardly anyone about.

Is it worth flyfishing here?

Don't bother. It's a mess.
Used to be a good coarse fishery, but it seems that the banks have been 'improved' to facilitate the boating and it's a also a hang-out for the local yobs.
If you want to have a look for yourself go through Denholme and look out for Foster Park View, on the RHS heading in the Keighley direction. Doe Park is at the bottom of this road.

I posted the exact same message somewhere else and from there point of view they think its a good water to fish.

I can't wait to fish it. Think i might just take my fly rod with me.

Take a pole and casters and fish for the roach and tench or open ended swimfeeder for the bream.
I have fished this water since I was knee high to a grasshopper, before I became enlightened.

The local schools use it as a sailing and watersports activity centre during the week and the sailing club at weekends so there is a lot of water disturbance. The banks / walls are crumbling with age and lack of adequate repair and the accessible banks are steep and in places downright dangerous, so access to the water is generally limited.

The local kids from the nearby estates use anglers as target practice with stones from the crumbling walls. Does this sound a good place to fly fish to you? I certainly would not entertain the idea.

If I were you I would purchase a Bingley Angling club ticket and fish Sunnydale reservoir. Access is good; parking at the side of the reservoir, and it is well stocked with roach and trout: browns and some rainbows.

Hope this helps

Steve

I don't fish with pole rods.

I used to fish Sunnydale when I was with that club. There are some nice roach in.

I once caught a cased caddis on a bare hook. lol

I'll still try Doe Park.

Just be careful when you do try it.

Not the impression I got. Used to be, but no longer.
Still. The only way to find out is to give it a try.
It might have improved in one respect since I last fished it though. They've closed down the nearby abbatoir, so a bait catapult and supply of ball bearings shouldn't be required anymore.
The rats used to be so daring they'd wander the bank and investigate your bait bucket in broad daylight.
What they were like at dusk I never dared to find out.

Best of luck, but make sure you don't take just your fly rod.
