Thumbs up Walthamstow Wows

I know fishing Walthamstow can be tough, but when on form the fishing is blinding.

I was meant to go to Grafham last Saturday, but didn't make it so went to Walthamstow in the afternoon instead. Made my way to the causeway and could see fish grazing on the surface in #4. Made a 3 fly setup with buzzers and had action straight away. The fly doing most of the business was a #14 buzzer with hares ear body, pearl flash rib, peacock herl thorax and a white cdc puff fished on the point. All the fish were between 2 - 4 lbs, and of great quality and were not stockies as a few had well healed comorant scars!

The overcast sky and warmish wind, along with the odd rain shower must of brought the fish close to the bank, and the fish had now switched from feeding on Daphnia to buzzers, although the fish that I spooned only had a few in them.

The fishing seemd so easy that I had to move to the other reservoir (#5) where I happened to continue catching.

Had to get back there on the Sunday, and managed to get an evening pass from the missus, and tied a few more flies before I left. Gave a couple out to people who I met the day before, which in the end left me short as I had 3 smash takes. The fishing was slightly harder, but still I had some great action.

Made it back yesterday afternoon, and the hasrh wind must of stirred things up a bit. Managed 3 and lost a monster, that I reckon may have been a brownie.

I know its hard normally, but the fish are in there and if you get one they are nice, hard fighting, quality fish.

Had my best fishing for years there this weekend.

Smile Tight lines

hey buddy, thank you very for your company yesterday. Was a pleasure to have finally met you. Coming back from Walthamstow was a nightmare and wished i had stayed there a bit longer as you had suggested.

Anyway, tying some flies for next Wednesday, and will probably see you up there if you come by.

regards,

Deo
