Default Fishing in Hitchin/Ickleford?

Is anyone familiar with fishing in the Ickleford area. I know its a very small place but I have heard from a friend that there maybe some fishing at a spring fed lake in this area.
Should anyone have any knowledge of this I would love to hear further.

Loopy, there used to be a tiny, and I mean tiny, lake there - it was where I started fly fishing but it was an acre or less and was busy if there five people on it.

I do not think it has been open for some years. No idea what happened to it or the trout farm, but the couple were quite elderly so I suspect they may no longer be around.

Thanks for your input. I have found one (maybe it) by the bridge. It is very small as you suggest. Only suitable for one maybe two rods max. The water is spring fed and consequently absolutely pristine and is about three/six foot deep with some beautiful browns. I am not sure that the owners/owner have much idea about marketing but the layout is good in that one is not able to cover the whole of the water, with inaccessable areas at either end where the fish can and do rest up. Together with bank fishing on one side only. Like most of the brown population if you can see them, they can see you, so the fishing was testing.

Two fish (around 2lb each) returned yeterday in muggy conditions following capture on a bibio an a hatching midge. I'd go again just for the water clarity, very Hampshire!

One quaint touch which I enjoyed was the returns box nailed to the fence by the gate. I lifted the top to find a wren's nest with four tiny eggs. The roof was replaced quickly and carefully.
