Geordiedownsouth is on a distinguished road
Default Felix Farm today

Another hard day, bright sunshine and warm temperature.
Thought the day was going to be a cracker, 3rd cast, a good fighting 2lb rainbow on a daddies fished about 2ft down using a midgetip. A couple of slight pulls but nothing for the next 5 hours. About 4.30 fish started jumping all over the water but wouldnt take anything fished on the surface.Changed to a fast sinker with a Dawsons Olive and first cast a good pull. A few more pulls followed then landed my second, just under 2lb. Only saw 1 other fish landed, that was from the far bank opposite the lodge.

Why do you keep going there

Farmoor is 30 minutes away and a hundred times better.

I keep going there because I know most of the guys that fish this water and banter is good, we all share info. As I have said in previous posts, it is a hard water to fish, but thats the way I like it. I could go to a few other places quite close to me but have been told that these waters hold large amounts of fish that are relatively easy to catch. Thats not my scene, I like to think I can outwit the fish not cast any bit of fluff and pull out a 3/8lb recently introduced fish.
I have fished many waters throughout england and scotland, unfortunately Farmoor is not one of them so I cant comment on that water. Reading a few posts on here it does seem a popular venue.
But as stated, I like meeting up with local fisherman and its only 10 mins drive from home.

Ron, I don't like fishing easy holes in the ground either.

You should try Farmoor

Is that Farmoor or Farmoor 2.
And which junction off the M40 is the best.

It's Farmoor 2. Farmoor 1 was a syndicate water, now back under Thames but not in use.

It is just off the Oxford ring road so Junction 8 of the M40. Best bank nymph fishing I have experienced.

We will have a small meet there in September for some daddy bashing but you should try it before then.

Just Google map "Farmoor Reservoir" - it's not hard to find ! Leave the Oxford ring road at Botley.
