Default Kilnsey Park Fishery 2011

Hi
Went up to Kilnsey on Saturday for the first time this year, Stuart and Graham have been busy over winter building platforms and nice to see a weather station up there too - great job. Upper Wharfedale Weather Station - local weather forecast for Kilnsey

Still nice and tidy with some good fighting fish, on Saturday the fish seemed to like the good old blood worm apps caught about 15 on one and I must have given a dozen flies away during the day and made a few guys happy.

Bloodworm - fly fishing oddity

Great to see Ben back at work after his accident.

A nice friendly fishery with a good atmosphere
Cheers

Steve

I have found the fishing to be rather patchy recently …

Had a couple of hours last Wednesday morning from 8:30am – one other angler on the water (blanked whilst I was there) – tried light and heavy patterns and buzzers for 2 hours without a touch – then noticed some fish topping so tried a small daddy / hopper pattern and had 3 fish in 6 casts – the largest a Rainbow about 7 lbs.

Great to catch on dries this time of year!

Had another few hours last Saturday afternoon – very slow with just one fish to the net on a blob fished on a heavy sinking line.

As Steve says, the fishery is looking great with the new platforms – will have another few hours tomorrow as we have a decent forecast…

Kind regards

I thought boobies were not allowed on Kilnsey.

Strange Phil, I was there on Saturday and had 12 on a bloodworm, busy time.

Steve,

I'm getting my weeks mixed up! - it was Weds, 02 Feb and sat afternoon, 05 Feb!

Only two other anglers on the sat afternoon in the rain - didn't see them catching...

By the way - do you fish your apps bloodworm under an indicator?

Kind regards

Phil.

Under an indicator Phil - thats float fishing heaven forbid

Fished there once last summer. Should have been on the wharf, but gave that up after spending the week boiling in my waders in the sun !!

Went round the trout farm first ... it took a nature walk, stroking pigs, feeding trout and buying lunch before the wife gave in and let me have a cast !!

I went through the flybox and managed to find an egg fly roughly the same size as the pellets I'd been feeding to the fish all morning.
Ginked it up and fished it dry, just like the floating pellets they feed the fish on.
I figure thats a modern version of matching the hatch

Landed 17 fish in 2.5 hours and lost a few as well.

Cracking fishery and I really enjoyed it. Some may consider that kind of fishing to be a bit ignorant ... I call it fun

Just wish I lived nearer to it, cos I'd be there all the time.
