Question Rutland this Sunday

I'm off to Rutland this Sunday, any news/tips on flies, tactics and areas holding fish will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Oliver

The wind has been mostly NE and E and for Sunday it looks like it will be overcast but dry.
Most of the better fish have been holed up and caught in the South arm recently and also at the Dam running towards the lodge.

Run drifts all down the Normanton shore from Fantasy to the Church. Fish nymphs and buzzers at all depths. Deep if it is sunny, washing line if it's cloudy, or the bung.

That's what worked at the International last week.

Hi Yaffle

In the early afternoon try just outside hideaway bay with the black buzzers I sent you, 12' leader with 3 flies and a bung.
There has been alot of fish in OHB right in the corner to the left of the concrete pipe, I had 8 in an hour in a recent match but they were only small fish. The bigger ones are at hideaway. Also worth a try around Browns island.

Have fun.

PS m2mga is there today I'm sure he will put a report on but PM him for the latest info. There is a floating line match on Saturday I'll try to find out what works and where and let you know sat night.

There were shed loads of fish all along from Normanton to the dam. The fish were holding close to the bank. Topping to nymphs and dries. We were rifting in and out and as soon as the motor was run feeding stopped. The fish are spooky and will go down quickly.
I had fish on size 12 GRHE and size 12 stripped quill buzzer. Winning method on the day was CDC buzzers and dries.

Mick and his mate only had 5 fish between them today Yaffle. They were told it was difficult before they went out and if the retail lads cant get any fish then it's a struggle.Good luck.

Sorry Yaffle it was yesterday they fished Rutland, they were at Grafham today. If you read the features on UK flyfisher Craig Barr says there's alot of fish at Sykes lane.

Yaffle just back from a hard going evening!!!!
A beautiful night with plenty and i mean plenty of fish in the fantasy island area.
They seem to be gorging themselves on buzzers just below the surface
and no one seems to be catching at present!!!!
Hopefully you'll have better luck?

Yaffle , floating line only match today , no lures was very tough from what i,ve been told only 1 man with 8 fish, although the good news is that it was stocked on friday, if you want to bag up.not going into detail of where stocked to spare the fish, however an equal share out around the res both nth and south arms.

Looks like it'll be lure bashing then, which is a shame because I was looking forward to some buzzer fishing. Thanks everyone, there's some great info here! I'll let you know how I get on. I'll check on again in a bit incase any more info comes in
