Smile Gem of a Place.

Guys I think I found a gem of a place. It is a fantastic place. The place I am talking about it Haywards Farm Fishery (www.haywardsfarmfishery.co.uk) in Theale in Reading.

This is a well managed venue with friendly staff and excellent clean and tidy facilities. The fishery offers two crystal clear spring water fed lakes with grassy green slopes. The water is so healthy it is teaming with aquatic and fly life. Be it purely for sports (catch and release) or take home quota, the provides anglers with superb healthy fighting fish. Sportsfish Ltd have established a 4000 sq ft custom built store beside the fishing water...so getting essential gears before and after fishing is really a bonus. A professional flycasters is always there to teach anyone who is there to learn to fly fish or improve their casting skills - tuition rates are very affordable. Communting is easy and it is only 40 mins by train from London Paddington - this is how I traveled - and the fishery is less than a minute walk from Theale Station....talk about getting environmental friendly ....try this venue out guys!

Happy fishing !

The fishery is associated with the Sportsfish outlet there. I fished the Sportsfish competition there earlier in the year and was fortunate to finish second.

I fished it before it opened for the season and it was stuffed with eager Rainbows and I have to admit really too easy as everyone in the comp were catching early on.

It is a nice fishery but a little too close to the railway for a really quiet day.

Yes, I know what you mean .....but it is not always like that....i have been there one time and found it hard catching anything. I have also come across people who have gone away without even having a pull.

The reason i like visiting this venue is because, fly life is abundant, and dry fly fishing is just terrific. It just helps you sharpen up your fishing skills really but other than that staff are great. They are a bunch of old chaps and I always have good laugh with them.........

I fished the C&R lake after the competion and that was hard, I was the only person to catch on that lake all day. I was the lucky one manged two but the C&R lake is a better shape and looks more inviting than the lake by the shop
