Default rip-off

you were spot on woody it was a bit of a rip-off £20 for 3 fish or £14 catch and release all day very steep a thought especially after being charged £7 for 2 cups of tea and 2 rolls and sausage a should of known after that. but anyway moan over. On to the fishing as stated water is gin clear and with the aid of polaroids you could see right down to the bottom and right accross and to say it wasnt stocked well is a understatement i could clearly see a good 50 yards across where we were and you could of counted fish on one hand so it was more or less stalking fish all day there are some very big fish in there but not plentifull so after a hard days slog ended up with 2 fish for 5lb and my mate got one smallest rainbow ive seen it weghed 7 ounces and it had the cheek to already had a bite indicator and buzzer still attatched to it . there were about another 6/7 anglers on as well and there were only 2 or 3 fish landed so for the cost of petrol, bite to eat, and ticket it was what you would call an a1 rip-off wont be back in a hurry

P.S ITS ABSOLOUTLY SHAGGED WITH WEED

The Hammerlands Centre ceased to be a fishery after Clive and Shaun left ,Shame as it was once one of the best in Scotland .

Default Disagree

I must disagree strongly with the above comments, I am a regular at moffat and what a turn round from years ago, its clean tidy and to say that the place isn't stocked well is rediculous. Also the staff at moffat have worked very hard to clear the weed this year and in my opinion have done a brilliant job, as you said above you could see clearly 50 yards accross the bottom in front of you.
I will be back again and again.

Jez23,,i totally agree with you on your statement.

My wife and i recently fished Moffat and had one of the best days fishing for a while,we had a load of hard fighting fish in the time we were there,,there was a few bits of weed,,but nothing on the scale that is being talked about on this thread.

We had 19 HARD fighting rainbows on a home tied special buzzer,(my secret )
and the average weight was about the 4lb mark with a couple going well over the 8lb mark.

I will be going back again very soon.

I thought the staff there were very helpfull and nothing was too much of a bother for them.

AND NO I DO NOT WORK THERE !!!,,,BUT I WISH I DID !!!!

Cheers

Davie

Glad you had a good day there Davie ,were all the fish fin perfect and averaging 2lb +,well thats what i was used to when when i fished there and yes small buzzers 18s and 20s worked back then too ,but best sport was to be had with the floating fry at night i caught my best Rainbow (14lb 10oz)and Brook trout(4lb 6oz) in 2 casts one January evening but that was when it was run by Peter Hesketh and Shaun Ottewell .In the winter a lot of the top competition boys came from the central belt most weekends it was so good ,Sadly i don't think it happens so much now.

if you read the post it does say 50 yards accross the BOTTOM it should have said 50 yards across the weed in most places you cant see the bottom and nearly all the way down the back side of island is shagged with weed hardly ideal fishing but i will say there were some big fish moving up and down channel in front of me but you could off counted them on one hand your obvisouly a local and sticking up for the place so well done for that as i am only a visitor i was just giving my thoughts of place my main gripe was the pricing far too excesive so as they say
i wont be back again and again

or as you spell it rediculous!!
