Default Farmoor Match This Saturday

Hello
Sorry it's been a while since I posted. I contracted something horrible over Christmas and have had a period off sick. All well again now and looking forward to the new season starting Feb 1st.
As I'm sure you all know the Christmas Match had to be cancelled but the new date is this Saturday and all indications are that we should have a good attendance. We have contacted everyone who left us a number and hope you have all passed on the new date. Unfortunately due to some poor water quality in the River Thames we have been unable to pump in and keep the levels up for some time now and as a result the levels are pretty low. That said we have continued to stock and the fish are there to be caught. The bank fishing has inevitably suffered from the low water, the boats have been fishing very well. If it helps the conditions on Saturday will be the same for all the bank anglers, the forecast is for it to be cold but clear.
PLEASE NOTE; there will be no boat fishing available on match day, Saturday 29th January. This includes non match anglers. The boats will be available again for Sunday. I am told the menu for the meal after the match will be roast pork. Don't forget we want to raise as much as we can for the 'Casting for Recovery' Charity and all donations to the raffle are welcomed as are more substantial contributions suitable for an auction.
We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday next.
All the best.

Default Farmoor match update

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello All

The postponed Christmas match took place on Saturday 29th January and despite a bitter NE wind, 23 anglers braved the conditions. Every angler stayed the course and all were smiling as they tucked into the roast pork dinner with plum pudding dessert (some may have had a frozen in grimace but it looked like a smile to me)
The results were:- 1st Jim Longmore 12lb 10oz 7 fish
2nd Phil Lonstaff 11lb 5oz 6 fish
3rd Steve Radcliffe 7lb 3oz 4 fish
Best fish. Phil Hall 2lb 6oz

We would like to thank all those who took part; it really was a very hard day. Additional thanks go out to Steve Cullen and Total Fly Fishing, Gareth Jones and Airflow and the volunteers/organisers of the UK casting for recovery charity. Their donations of raffle prizes and auction items together with those items donated by competitors and local anglers allowed us to make £430 on the day for casting for recovery.

The patrons of Farmoor were presented with a framed certificate of thanks from 'Casting for Recovery' I accepted it on their behalf and it is displayed in the Rangers Lodge at Farmoor.

We are now able to bring water back into the reservoir as the source quality has improved. The levels are climbing but it is a slow process.

From today, February 1st, the few minor changes to the site directions and rules come into force.

Any anglers vehicles coming up onto the fishery must now be parked at the 10 min parking bay at the top of the ramp or be left in the main car park whilst the angler books in/pays.
Having booked in then all vehicles must be driven in a clockwise direction around F2 and parked in the appropriate car park to where the angler intends to fish. F1 anglers must also take this route to access F1. In effect there is now a one way system in force around F2 and exit from the site is only permitted via the causeway and past the rangers lodge. Driving, stopping or parking on the grass to either manoeuvre or pass stationary vehicles is not permitted.
For F1 anglers there has been a new car park built at the rear of F1 in addition to the small car park at the top of the causeway.
Anglers/customers are not permitted to take a vehicle onto the roadway around F1.
There is now a new ticket system. It is a much simplified process and a full example/explanation is provided in the existing booking in/out area.
All anglers are asked to call at the lodge to collect the revised Farmoor Fishery rules.

The Ranger team thank you all for you custom and support throughout the 2010/11 season and we look forward to an equally good season throughout 2011/12.

All the best
