Has anyone been to Barnes Lake (haven't found a website for it yet) near Witney in Oxfordshire recently?

I normally go to Farmoor or Lechelade but fancy a change this weekend. Failing any info on Barnes lake can anyone recommend somewhere to try near to Oxford?

I am not a fan of these smaller lakes ,however I really liked the fishery when I visited a year ago ,a variety of lakes and good quality fish .

Thought I'd take myself off to Barnes Lakes yesterday...couldn't have picked a worse day! Blazing sun all day..occasional ripple but not much. Since it is a floating line, nymph or dry fly only water it was not the best day to assess the place!!!

A bit difficult to find but when you are there it is a very attractive fishery. Well maintained and King Fisher Lake, in particular is very "scenic". Run by an extremely affable chap who was honest enough to say that he doubted if we'd catch in those conditions but having travelled sixty odd miles we thought we'd give it a go.

The odd fish was moving right out..it would have needed a Double Charlie to get to them but what we could see were of a very good size. Being predominantly C&R they are educated fish and I suspect it's quite challenging even in good conditions.

My tally for the day was one quite decent Chub and a small, very small Perch.
