Default Draycote or Grafham?

Folks:

I am coming over from the US and may have a chance to get in a day's fishing in early June. I have two questions:

- Based on the year so far, is there any reason I should choose Grafham or Draycote?

- Is there any place local to Draycote to get a reasonable room for the night?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers,

A. Gregory

Draycote is fishing very well at present with good buzzer hatches. There are a couple of B&B places in the village of Dunchurch, just up the road from Draycote that are OK and charge reasonable rates.

A modern budget style hotel affixed to an old coaching inn (which has been modernised). http://www.innkeeperslodge.com/lodgedetail.asp?lid=47
They do discounts for advance internet bookings, and it's just down the road from Draycote.

Also ring Paul Vernon at Lyttles of Dunchurch http://www.lyttlesofdunchurch.co.uk/ a great tackle shop just across the road from the hotel on +44 01788 817044. He might have better suggestions.

Regards,

Doc

Never fished Draycote but a pal of mine went last year and said that he bacame bored with catching so many fish weighing the obligatory 2lbs. Is there a website for Draycote cause I always seem to have difficulty in locating it?
Grafham is bigger and maybe offers more choice. One thing I would say is to check that competitions are not being held on the days you wish to fish. There I have stuck my neck out now!

Loopy:

I like both Grafham and Draycote a lot - my favorite fishing at Draycote is during fry-bashing season. I've always caught some bigger fish in the mix, too, but I guess it just depends on how you're fishing and where.

I hope to hit both this season. I will keep my eyes open for competitions, though - thanks for the reminder.

Cheers,

A. Gregory
