Default Eyebrook

Very windy. Fish showing at the top end of the water from "mucky bay" onwards on that bank although they are spread throughout the top end (Stoke Dry?).

Taking very small green buzzers under the surface. Not easy, some people are not getting a touch some are bagging up quickly.

You will learn as you progress that number and size is not always the best measure of a day's fishing. Beginners tend to be obsessed first with the numbers and then the size of fish caught, and there's nothing wrong with that, but when you get to my advanced stage of life you don't have to catch a fish to have a great day and very often, odd that it sounds, not catching one can make it a great day.

Not bad - too many stages but I'm between 12 and 13 on that scale. It was a long time before I moved off the catching big fish stage and I now like to fish for and hopefully catch difficult river fish of any size in nice surroundings, I still like to try and target the bigger ones though. However I still can't resist the lure of the Irish midland loughs where the monster browns come to the fly.

To put you out of your misery I managed to land four during the day. But as mentioned above I go out for the day to enjoy myself in the beautiful surraounds and catching a few nice fish is a bonus

Do it if you can possibly manage it, the Eyebrook is probably the most scenically attractive trout reservoir in England just ahead of Blagdon, the fishing is challenging but can be very rewarding, and you will be made welcome by the fishery staff and the regular anglers.
