Hi Guys,

Myself and my mate, are off to Foremark on tues. We have never fished it before. I have been on the site, and it looks like its fishing fine. What im after is advice on whether or not you think we need a boat? or places to head for? and tactics? not a lot to ask for i know ha. The site is really good, but i would like a bit of local unbiased knowledge.

many thanks

Deano

If you normally boat fish then I would take a boat. If you prefer the banks then you will be fine at Foremark up to about the end of May. The guys in the lodge will give you the best advice on current killing methods and areas but if you turn up and ask whether or not you should be having a boat then I bet they will end up selling you one. I've not fished it myself this year yet but would of thought floating line, buzzers, GRHE, diawl bach, etc, or dries if there is a hatch will see you right.
Hope you have a good day, it can be tremendous fishing at this time of year.

Perhaps bot the best person to give advice, as only took up the sport in october

However,

The last Foremark flyfishers match a week or two ago plenty of fish were caught, I only had the one though !!

Plenty of pulls and one that nearly ripped my rod and arm off and most of the fish taken were on drifts well within bank casting. Boat partner (Phil) took 12 and lost many many more.

All the info you want is available at the lodge, best flies and areas etc etc

Black/Olive fritz seemed to be doing the most damage though.

Give Phil a call at the lodge and go from there,

Cheers

Jason

May see ya there hoping to get down tuesday myself
