Default Chalk springs fishery 2/1/11

Club day at Chalk Springs.Chilly day,but better than of late, some weak sunshine and slight breeze.
Had one fish quickly on West lake on a slowly fished damsel plus a few plucks and pulls. All went very quite for a few hours despite moving around the lakes and changes of fly.Not easy spotting fish in the poor light conditions.Moved back to west lake and started getting sharp takes on egg fly.Had four fish within an hour all on eggfly, best a 6-4 rainbow.Having taken a five fish ticket i decided to have a break and lunch.resumed with same tactics full of confidence that i would soon be on my way home with my fifth fish---,yea right.Struggled for one missed take on East lake and ended the day with four fish for 12lb-14oz.Some nice browns taken and most catching although one or two finding things hard.
Certainly not an over easy day,had to work hard for the fish.Nice to be back on the bank after the freeze up though.

At least you caught, I had a funeral to go to in Wales and went a day ealy to have a go at Bigwell. Cold and very hard going, only saw 3/4 fish caught in the time I was there. I blanked.

Looking at your report surely you had your 5. 4 on the Egg Fly and as you say 1 early on on a slowly fished Damsel

Well done any way , must get myself to Chalk Springs soon.

Dave

Sorry, should have said 3 on egg flyone on damsel. Can't count
Water was naturally pretty damn cold, although with water constantly running through,i guess nowhere near as cold as those fisheries that have been frozen.
