Default Stonebridge

I made a descision today to make a detour off the A1 as i was driving up to Aberdeen to have a few hours at this fishery....and what a descision it turned out to be, was met by the recent new owner Richard for a coffe and a chat....proceeded to get my gear set up and BANG !...after a 20 minute fight and almost down to the backing...i landed the biggest fish ive ever seen...21lb 7oz...the amazing feature about this fish was it was a fully tailed specimen of about 3' in length.

I shouted the owner over with the scales as i could not take the beauty, he did take some pic's on his camera fone....but the memory of this fish will live with me for years to come...took the thing a good 20 mins to recover...but it was a great sight to see it swim off strongly.

I hooked another 2...probably in the 7-9lb mark....then....Disaster.... i got a take on a small black knat...strike...... SNAP...BANG...CRACK....my Angel rod snapped in 3 places....

Any way...memorable day in many ways

cheers

billy

That's one hell of a fish!! I was at Stonebridge a couple of weeks ago and managed 4 although they were all under the 5lb mark. Saw a couple of absoulte monsters around the 18~20lb mark swimming about but couldn't get one to take. Nice fishery, pity I live in Glasgow.

Default Stonebridge Fishing Lakes

Hi All,
I have just heard from a very reliable source that a 19lb fish and a 23 lb
fish were caught at Stonebridge on Sat 28th. It looks like the new owners are making a serious go at making Stonebridge the premier big fish water in the North. Ican't wait for the weekend when I can fish again
Cheers Pikey

Pikey, I was there on Saturday and actually saw the 23 pounder hooked and landed by a guy from near Boston in Linc's, his mate got the 19 lb one, the difference was the guy i was talking to got the fishery owner to witness and weigh his fish and unfortunately his mate didnt it was huge, but the fishery rules state that if it is not witnessed and weighed by the fishery it will not be verified and therefore not valid for troutmasters.....such a shame..... the owner even called to see if he wanted it weighing, only to be told....no...its not that big

what impresses me most is the quality of these fish, every single fish i have caught has had complete full fins and tails.
wear your forum badge....i'm going this weekend again....provided Hardy replace my broken Angel.

cheers

billy
