Default Elinor

Anyone know if Elinor is ice free? Was thinking of visiting at the weekend if its ice free and accessible.

Some of the rivers that run round there have sheets of ice in the margins, but we are thawing out round this way today.
I am driving past later today i will have a look.

well heres how it looked at 3.30 this arvo. The weather is even colder here today with more ice about.
I didnt leave the carpark at Elinor ( Bl**Dy freezing when that sun dropped) but it looked like the dam wall had a sheet of ice going out 30 or 40 yds out to the big copse ( you can see it on the photo below).
And the western ends (either side of the pylon) were both solid with ice. It looked like 2/3 of the surface was free of Ice.
I would definately ring before you go.

The track into Elinor at 3.30 today.

Thanks for taking the time to go down there, certainly didn't expect service like that. Sounds like ringing ahead is definately called for, nice to know there is at least some clear water though

Cheers

Went on Saturday, the ice had receeded a little, but most of the dam was iced up as was the far end by the pilons. There were about 10 anglers there throughout the day, I worked around the whole lake and fished just about every spot that wasn't inaccessible due to ice. Tried a variety of methods and didn't get a touch all day. Same story for everyone, I didn't see a single fish hooked let alone landed. Still, was nice to get out and wet a line Just a tough day I think due to the weather, Sunday was probably better as it warmed up a bit by then.
