Spoke to Dave yesterday, no announcement on opening date yet, should be fairly soon though.
As to a 'get together' I think the answer is yes and early in the season.

Opening date for day tickets is saturday March 3rd. Season ticket is March 1st.
Over 6000 fish will be put in before opening day with a consignment coming down from Scotland.
An 'open weekend' is being planned for late April/early May.

It's pretty much down to us/you/anybody to support Geoff and Dave.

As some would say, looking forwards to it already.

Contact for the fishery.

Used to do a lot of float tubing myself ( in the 80s and 90s )and with the frequent winds we seem to be getting regularly I don't think I would bother, also, if I am honest I think the insurance problems would make it difficult for Geoff to allow it but by all means, ask him, you wont know 'til you've asked.
Having said I used to tube a lot, including Rutland a couple of times and Corrib, I have, what I think is, a very funny story about outboards on float tubes. About 20 years ago, we were in the National Float tube championships at Thornton in Leicestershire, even the television cameras turned up to see the sights. The well known man from Lureflush turned up with a float tube he had bought in the states and it had a little outboard attached to the back on its own mini float tube which held the car battery as well. There were about 40 of us there and were all reduced to tears by the mans efforts to control the motor. It was something akin to a cross between a whirling dirvish and a syncronized swimmer. Needless to say, we never saw him or the motor again.

Default Ladybower 'Open' weekend

Had a meeting with Geoff and Dave the other night.
A date has been arrived at for their Open weekend at Ladybower Fishery.
Saturday and Sunday 12th/13th May.

Saturday, there will be Paul Sissons, Sue Sissons and Steve Newsome to help with Casting, Fishing and Fly Tying
Sunday will be Dave Johnson(Peaks Fly Fishing) and Steve Newsome covering Casting, Fishing and Fly Tying.
Format will be same as last year, buy your day ticket and take advantage of the above to improve your general fishing/tying abilities.
Any monies raised from above will be going to charity. The above are all giving their time FOC.
It's now up to you to turn up and make it a success.

Hi BL
I'd no idea things were so bad at Ladybower. Lets hope someone will take it over that can turn it around. It used to be a good fishery.

Hi Black Knight. That post must have been a year ago, the new guys took over last march and had a good season last year. Things are good up there.

Well, if the southwesterly keeps to form for the next few days, it should give us a cracking start to the season weatherwise. It should suit the right handers in Ladybower Bay as well as Pickles, Grainfoot and Millbrook, possibly even Snake Meadow. Will probably be straight in your face on the Telephone Box and for left handers, Derwent Meadow, Monument and possibly Rasberry Bay. Even though the fish should be tight to the banks they should not be too deep and Intermediate lines around Di2/3 should do the business.
Looking forwards to it all.
