Just heard that the tenancy at Draycote has been issued ! Don't know who yet, am still waiting to hear from mole, apparently we will be surprised when it is revealed. The point being that it is perfectly logical that the same could have happened at the Bower. Lets all hope so.
As to the poaching, I bet there are some of our eastern european friends fishing the neck in front of the Ladybower Inn even this afternoon.
Hope to meet some of you up there in the not too distant future, though how that happens is still new and a mystery to me, is there some kind of 'funny handshake' for identification purposes ?

Hmmm, interesting.... Lasst time I went there I managed 2 small rainbows, just over the pound mark. Previous to that I blanked. It is a fantastic venue. and the fish from there are the best I have tasted. (BBQ with a sprig of rosemary!) (Tis the future)

Anyway, If no one takes up the tenancy, what happens to the fishing? Like I would love to go after the pike in there. Could I just pull up and cast my plugs from the bank? Or would I be liable for prosecution?

Thanks for that, should've guessed there would be a simple answer.
Will now try to get myself a badge.

I understand that the tenancy for Ladybower was due to come to an end this year...I entirely agree with the posts on here - I used to fish Ladybower a lot but I feel that the fish quality has got worse and worse over the past few years. Whilst the size of the fish doesn't especially bother me, 1lb stockies that just flop into the boat without even the briefest of fights and with sorry looking fins is not on. The venue itself is stunning, but when you compare the fish to those that come out of Carsington, I'd choose the latter any day of the week!!!!

Stocked with 35,000 trout, including brownies?

Not sure how Alan ever managed to pull that one off
maybe mr parnell took that figure as a ten year total.

i do have a certain sympathy for him, i heard that he had suffered a pollution incident one season...killed both fish

i once saw four newby anglers pull up in the car park one especially raw spring day. obviosly poorly equiped in every way especially clothing and confronted by a rolling and sullen looking ladybower with snow on the tops.
one of em asked through chattering teeth if he (alen) could tell them where the fish were likely to be "its a lot bigger than what we thought".

"there all in theer" came the reply.

it was actually quite funny in a dry sense but not what a beginner needs to hear .

i recall tripping over a long stand of rusty barbed wire well wrapped with rambling thorns in about !973 and doing the same thing in 2008 on the same blasted thing. he might have worked diligently at some point in the long dark winter months but there was never much evidence of it .

So can anyone tell me what happens if I turn up and fiash it from the banks this weekend? Wii I get prosecuted? Is there any fish left in there? (Pike, Perch, Trout?)

Thanks, it is such a lovely area, would like to take my sons with me for a spot of bank fishing in hope that we catch a pike or two!
