Question Garnffrwd

Folks
She who must be obeyed has insisted on paying for a week at this top fishery.
However what used to be a fishery that was always in the mags and fishery reports has gone very quiet at the moment. Is this to try and keep it a Welsh secret or has something gone wrong. I really do hope not.
Assuming all is well, has anybody fished it recentley and if so how is it going?? Any tips gratefully received .

Not fished it myself, but those that do speak highly of it, but quietly.

Brundlefly, the best info I can give is to phone the fishery and ask the owner,he is very helpful and truthful on how it's fishing. The lake is superb, fully finned ,hard fighting fish, also a good percentage of Browns and some Tigers.Won't go wrong with a Damsel pattern,or any natural pattern, buzzer etc.Never stayed there but the lodges look really comfortable, and what a view to wake up to!
You won't regret finding Garnffrwd, probably the best small water in S.Wales.
Have fun!

As stated, phone Jamie the owner for a report. Welshy and I fished it with others about three weeks ago. Bright conditions, clear water and fish could be seen everywhere. Small imitative flies such as emergers worked best but some did catch on blobs and lures if thats your thing. The fish are in superb condition as Jamie rears them himself on site. You will always have to work hard for your fish here due to the amount of food in the water but the rewards are great and the surroundings superb. If you want stocky bashing then it's not the place. If you want quality fishing in a great place theres no better smallwater in Wales. I saw a little stoat or weasel as I walked around the far side and theres loads of other wildlife there too. If the log cabins and cottages are as good as the fishing your wife won't be disappointed either. Still probably the best smallwater in Wales but hush hush don't tell anybody, cos it's our little secret.

Thanks guys,
I was worried that some thing had happened, you hear of so many of the smaller fisheries closing down, and its not really the done thing to phone Jamie and say are you still operating or have you gone under.Your Welsh secret will be safe with me and thanks for the tips. We are there for the last week in May so hopefully may get to meet some of you. Whats the name of the nearest pub????
