I had a days holiday today so decided to have a crack at Crabtree.
I was the only one there (except fot the horses, duck and swans).

There was very little surface movement but I did see two very nice fish (definitely exceeding 1.5lb) jump out of the water. All the fish I saw today were to the rear of the left hand side island when looking from the car park.

I caught one fish but sadly lost it. Weed is still a problem but I think I 'll give it another go when it warms up next season.

The fish I happened to hook was with a lime green fritz. Perhaps I'll try again soon then.

Crabtree Fishery, there's a blast from the past. 20 yrs ago I used to fish it with my son. In those days a 6lber was a big fish around all of the local fisheries and I remember on one weekend my son had 4 doubles.
It was also the place where I first bumped into HKS. Happy days indeed.

It's a lovely spot to go and take the wife, I just wish Stan would get on top of the weed and stocking policy but there again the stocking may be down to the fact it's an honesty box for the catch returns.

I don't know about stocking but he's gone on an advertising blitz. I was in the local tackle shop at the weekend and there was a pile oflashy new leaflets promoting the place.

I'm sure the last time i went there was something in the small print that said no lures.

Hi Ultralite there is but they are the flies Stan suggests to use whenever I have visited he would rather you catch and come back than don't catch and complain. Noel
