Fished here a few times last two years. Thought it was disgusting. The few fish I caught were in **** poor condition and crawling with lice.
I will NOT be going back. Ever.

Every water in the UK will have some fish with lice and leaches at certain times of the year. Lots of fisheries from the South of England to the North of Scotland have problems and some have to close because of huge infestations. It is especially a problem where sporting tickets are allowed because of handling of fish and then them sinking to the bottom and that is where they get infested.

Through our experience and our bio security in season 2006 we were only aware of 2 fish all season that had any lice infestation. There would be very few fisheries in the UK who could state that. After 25 years of successfully running a fly fishery we have a huge following of anglers who would inform us if there was a problem and who praise us constantly for the standard of our fish.

Thumbs down Not Impressed

I fished this place tonight after reading the mixed reviews it has received. As per my last visit to this fishery i was not at all impressed. There were no other people fishing which suprised me as it seemed the perfect evening. The place looks as though it is not being maintained at all. Lot's of empty unused boats/canoes strewn around the place. Grass overgrown, banks overgrown, weed growth. The lodge seems very dated and there were no signs of any up to date reports or catch return logs. It seemed as though the place was not used very often. I bought a 4 hour sport ticket for £11 and was told the rules, one which included making sure that i threw all fish back (as in throwing the fish into the centre of the pond) rather than gently releasing them as they didn't want the fish swimming in the margins. Personally I would rather release any caught fish in a more humane way than launching them back into the water? Anyway, no worries about that as i didn't have a sniff all night. I saw no fish moving and out of all the pools they have i only saw 3 fish rise all night. This made no sense as the fly life was quite prolific and there was plently of natural food to be had. The weed has started to build up but not to the extent that it was off putting. I fished nymphs, dry flies, and even resorted to lures. I would question the stocking at the fishery as there were empty tanks and what loked like stock ponds were also empty. Apologies if this has been a long read but I have just wasted 4 hours and £11.00 on an evening that promised to be very good for fly fishing. Incidently I passed another local fisery on the way home and stopped for a look as it was still light, fish rising everywhere and very busy with fishermen. It make sense to me why tree tops was so quiet, it's ****. I swore never to return 2 years ago but thought that it deserved a second chance, i wish i'd gone somewhere else instead. I don't like to slag places off and it has nothing to do with blanking, i have blanked at many fisheries on a number of occasions, but tonight i felt as though my chances were null before i began. Rant over. I wont be returning.
