If any forum readers are visiting West Cornwall this summer and are looking to keep their casting arm flexed, I'd recommend a visit to Stithians Reservoir (these days referred to as Stithians Lake!).
It will be a very different experience for people more used to the Midlands reservoirs or smaller 'put & take' waters. At about 600ft it's quite exposed, rocky and surrounded by bracken, willow and gorse. It's not heavily stocked, but in the cold, clear water the fish fight like tigers.
I've just returned from a couple of days down there and had some wonderful fishing in very bright, breezy conditions. Both days fish were up in the water and provided great sport on light tackle. Small black flies, B&P Spiders, Beetles etc do great damage.
A day ticket (5 fish takeable) is £13.50. Tickets are available, self service from the water sports centre accessed by the side of the Golden Lion Pub - a great place for a mid day refresher!
