Default Loch Venachar

Hello all

Loch Venachar beckons on Saturday. Anyone been out there lately and got any tips to share? The info on the official site dates back to 2 Apr, so any more recent updates would be great.

Thanks, Dave

Hi David,

Look foward to fishing Venacher on Saturday, might even be lucky and be in the same boat. Like you, not heard much after first week. Any recent info would be useful. Will report back how we get on.

Paul

Let us know how you get on, me an some of my mates are fishing it on the 1st of May.
I was there last Sept and it was all traditional wets that were working, just hope for overcast skies.
Good luck for Saturday.

regards Gary

Default Venachar on a very warm cloudless day!

First of all, what a nice place with friendly and helpful people running it. Plenty of advice and info available for the asking before going out. The grub at the lodge post-fishing was also first class.

In purely angling terms today was very difficult with no wind and lots of sun. I managed a couple of keepers and returned 1, all on a cormorant with a black holo mylar body. I heard of another caught on a blue zulu and there was talk of soldier palmer and connemara black doing the business, too. Don't judge the place on today's angling performance - whoever heard of a flat calm and 20C in mid Apr - there seemed to be lots of fish in the loch when there was some fish movement. I look forward to returning later in the season.

Dave
