Default Garnffrwd :)

Pleased to say i met my second member of this forum today. Met up with Welsh osprey to fish the above, a good day we had too, lots of people fishing, very warm and bright, fish showing all over the lake including some big but tempremental browns. I finished my 4 for 12lb 8oz while stu (W.O) fished catch and release, my biggest being 3lb 12oz taken on a C.D.C emerger a first for me so chuffed, quickly followed be a 3lb 8oz abit later to the same method. Ended up with a lovely tan too lol

Congratulations Welshy on a great days fishing and your magnificent effort resulting in getting your bag including those two beauties on the emergers. Tough and sometimes frustrating fishing in those conditions but you persevered and rung the changes til you got your rewards. Thats what it's all about. Well done.

Enjoyed the day too and caught and released three myself. One on the damsel and two on the Corixa.

Great to meet a fellow forum member in yourself and also your dad. We must meet up again sometime either at Garnffrwd or another venue

Definately, i wouldnt mind garnffrwd again, i love fishing there, or maybe llandeg 1 day, u did mention something yesterday i think, ive been there twice and blanked twice, so would be good to be shown around. id definately recommend if anyone has not met a forum member close to them to do so, great to meet new faces on the water and can help with splitting the day up and finding what the fish want.

Last year I fished Swiss Valley which is reasonable, beautiful place to fish and good sport. It's about 40 acres in size and you get the permit from the fishing shop in Station Road, Llanelli. We could maybe do an evening ticket there if you like soon. I normally fish Garnffrwd about four times a season minimum so let me know if and when you are going there next. It's a cracking fishery and I bet those 3-4 poundrs gave a heck of a fight.

I have also fished Llandegfedd, Wentwood and Ynysyfro all near Newport. I also intend to fish Usk Reservoir and maybe The Upper Neuadd this year.

Look foward to as you say sharing tactics etc next time.

Welshy, glad you are getting amongst them! Have you had a fish on buzzer yet? If not, a day on Deggie might give you a chance as there can be huge hatches of black buzzer in late April and early May as the light fades.

The hatches tend to be best towards the top end and you will see fish rising all over the lake.

Well, im not sure I'd class it as a buzzer, as two of the fish i caught the other day were on a cdc buzzer emerger, but to me thats a dry, what i really want is to get one on just a bog standard black buzzer fished below the surface, i just dont have the patience or confidence to do it. Next outing is llys y fran on 28th of this month though, im keeping my ear to the ground as to whats catching up there, i know the senior welsh trials are there the week before, so hoping to get some info after that is fished

I WILL get one on a buzzer this year, even if i have to go out session after session with nothing but a box of the damn things to make sure, lol
