Smile Farmoor on form!

Fished Farmoor on Saturday the 7th. Had limit by 10.30 it's fishing it's head off at the moment! The fish were only a couple of feet down and would take buzzers, nymphs or lures. Water was gin clear and you could see large shoals of fish cruising quite close in. Four of the fish were around 2.5 lb.
Would be ideal for beginners as e fishing is so easy ate moment!

Martin.

I can confirm what Martin says. I have just returned with a limit of eight rainbows after spending a morning at Farmoor. They averaged a bit under 2lbs and the best was a beautifully conditioned 2.5 lber. The fish were not very far down and were caught on Pheasant Tail Nymphs and Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear size 12. There were clouds of midges hatching off, in fact I can't remember when I last saw anything like them. Every now and then fish would rise to take hatching insects but I could not persuade them to take my emergers.

I was there on Monday and can also confirm the previous two posts. I had my limit after a slow start mainly due to me being very very rusty. Fish were well up in the water and caught all but two on a Black Buzzer. I hooked several fish on a dry but couldn't make them stick. My largest went 2.12lb and I also had another two around the 2.5lb mark.

The fish seemed to be tightly shoaled moving up and down the bank and you could almost predict when you would get a take by the approaching rising and showing fish. The sport was certainly frantic and the stamp of fish a marked improvement on last year.

Perhaps someone can enlighten me on something....When gutting one of my fish it seemed to be full of eggs, I thought this was a thing of the past as most fish used these days were triploids. Has anyone else come across anything like that in Farmoor fish, I certainly haven't before?

Hi Roger,
Glad to hear you're all enjoying the exceptional sport here. All our fish are ordered as Triploids so shouldn't be full of eggs but I guess when you're dealing with millions of eggs at the fish farm one or two might just beat the treatment!

Thanks for the Info Paul. FYI for the fish in question was one of the prettiest Rainbow's I've ever caught. Huge spots and amazing colouring.

Default Bank at Farmoor

Paul,

Not having been to Farmoor this year, can you tell me if the bank is fishing generally well, i.e car park all the way round to boats etc or...

Many thanks

Phil

People are catching fish absolutely everywhere but probably the easiest (too easy!) place is the East bank with limits being caught in less than an hour at times!
