Default My Loch Awe Report!

Nothing serious here, just some info on what we caught and where.

Caught using worms. -

1 rainbow - 0.3/4 of a lb
3 brownies - ranging from 0.5lb to 1.5lbs
1 tench - 1lbs
1 perch - 0.5lbs.

On the fly -

3 brownies! smallest of 1.5lbs and largest 2.5lbs.

All the above fish were caught on the south side of the loch (the single track road between ford and portssonnachan), we were camped at the picknic site 2 miles outside ford. Plenty of fresh hatches of flys.

There are very few lochs North of Dumfries that hold Tench. My assumption would be that they have been released live baits by very stupid Pikers.

although Dougie there are several lochs here in Perthshire that have had tench in them for some time , possibly introduced by the romans (didn't know they pike fished! ) and are not recent releaes/escapees.

I have never heard of tench in Awe, so if you do have pics, please post them.

the forth and clyde canal has a very healthy head of tench. but they are/must be alien to AWE. and i think dougie will be right if proven.
