Hi Peter,

Not been to Bewl myself this season yet but I've spoken to others that have. Fishing from the boats has been quite good at times. Like the start of most seasons the best fishing is to be had close to the banks. The fish have been in the top layers and I know of people that have caught on Buzzers and cormorants plus the old favourites like Black Pennel and Bibio.

It seems that if you don't get a response fairly quickly then move on. Some fish are in the open water in Bewl Straight though.

Bank fishing I'm not so sure about. The area from the sailing club to the corner of the dam has been producing I'm told and I've also heard reports of the Rosemary lane area fishing well.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Hi Peter

Just to pre-warn you, Saturday is the BBFC Bank competition so there may be an extra 80 or so anglers on the banks. Three areas that are used for the competition are Bramble, 7lb creek and up Hook Straight on the right, Tinkers round Rosemary to Hatherells and Monty's to Dunsters. The forecast looks good and as Grasshopper says it has been fishing well.

Tight lines

Gillaroo

Went on Sunday , very slow. Only one fish between 2 of us ! Tried everything and everywhere.

Perhaps I should just stick to rivers ?

Default Still fishing good?

First of all thanks for all the good advise I have been able to pick up on this website, finally went through the process and can now actively participate, yee-harr...!

We fished Bewl on the 5th and it was my best day reservoir fishing ever! Plenty of hard fighting fish throughout the whole day, I could have fished on for ever. We caught fish on buzzer, cormorant, montana etc. but all those were by far outfished by simple, white nomad - lure of the day and worked like magic!

We stayed in Tinkers all day long as we were on our own down there.

Has anyone been during this last week? Has the relatively hot weather had an effect on the fishing? We are heading back this friday hoping for some surface sport..

Stock of fish were at Rosemarys Lane end for the boats. bank anglers along Rosemary, Entrance to Tinkers and a smattering down to Dunsters.
Ferry point down to Montys seat boat and bank.
The bank below the clubhouse and the main bowl of the dam for boats.

A few boats are still going to the cages.

A lot on the bank are launching it and leaving it. Boobies on sunk lines.
The boats have been catching on sunk lines with boobies.

But the trout are up in the water. There a lots of beetles and small black midge in the surface.

Floaters, Midge tips and slimes fished really slow with Nymphs. Dries are also working. It's nice laid back fishing.

That's the report for weekend gone.
