Managed a couple of hours on the Nidd this morning before the snow started. Had 5 Grayling, one around 1.5lb. Lost a couple of good fish also. The rivers in good nick at the moment, levels are spot on.

Had a trip up to the Nidd today with fellow forumite DaveH, its was chucking it down and blowing a gale when we arrived, the river didn't look to bad though, abit of colour and a decent level. We decided to give it a go and braved the rain and wind and within the 1st half hour we both had a fish . We both felt it was a promising start, it wasn't, after that the river started to colour up very quickly and rose 4 inches in the space of 3 hours. The weather really changed and it turned out to be a nice sunny day, unfortunatly with only one fish each. Enjoyed the day though, I like a challange

Hi Folks,

Messed about on the Colne Monday afternoon with a single nymph on a Tenkara rod. Quite productive I managed 8 ladies with Dave Southall landing 6 and one brownie, he even got 2 of his grayling on dry fly.

So roll on this weekend when I can have a go with my new toy!

Mick

Dave is a fantastic grayling fisher. Were the dry's on the size 24 IOBO Humpy's he uses so effectively. I struggled to catch grayling on the dry until a couple of helpful hours instruction from Dave.

One of life's true gents.

Hi Folks,

Well today was probably the last day I'll get out this Grayling season but a great way to finish on the Colne. Nice LDO hatch with the grayling making the most of them, it was good to spend a few hours catching fish on the dry fly after chucking bugs and nymphs for the last few months.

Roll on the 25th and bring on the Trout!

Cheers

Hi Folks,

The Yorkshire Gamefishers Society would like to extend an invitation to all for their next meeting on Monday 19th March.

Our guest speaker will be former editor of the Grayling Society Journal, photographer and fisherman Rod Calbrade. Rod's talk will be "Fishing Photography" and should be of interest to all interested in fishing and taking great pictures of fish and fishing experiences.

There is a small fee of £2.00 to all non society members with this being refunded if one decided to join the club for £8.00 per year. The societies aims are to promote the enjoyment gamefishing to all. The society meet on a monthly basis through out the winter months and arrange a small number of fishing excursions during the summer, with the emphasis being on the sharing of knowledge in a friendly good humoured manner.

The club meet at Ossett Cricket club and meetings start at 8pm.
For a map of the location of the club please see here WF58JT - Google Maps

For any further information then please email me at mpogson036@gmail.com

Cheers

Michael Pogson
