Err....yes it is! We have a block plant there as well. There is also a sewage works upstream but on a tributary to the Bletch Brook. It needs a walk upstream to find the source. Might see if I can get over there next weekend.

It's not necessarily a bad thing. The depth and flow rate above looks pretty healthy, whereas before it was too canal like. Might need to re-think the recommended actions for upcoming working parties?

Why don't we take up Phil White's offer to be of help. In his Haddon days he was a damned good practical river keeper.

To all you fly tyers!
Check out the LED/magnifier on offer at LiDL next week. Looks pretty good value to me. I use a 'daylight' jobby at the moment but it is a bit bulky so will invest next week.

A touch bulkier than the impression given on the Lidl website, but I've bought one and like it. A well made product.

Default A quick reminder

All

It's the first of the working parties on the BB this weekend (Meeting by the Ford at 9 am Sat).

We intend to install brushwood bundles (made previously) along the banks to create a bit more riffle and speed in the canalised section. Whilst they fill up with slit over the coming years they will act as habitat for the smaller trout helping there to.

All welcome including those that own wire snips and fence post hammers.

I should be ok for that after a bit of domestic diary-juggling. Can bring sledgehammer if needs be (for fence posts), long handled loppers and bow saw. Are waders in order too?

BTW, Kev and I fished Rocester yesterday in the snow - report and a couple of photos on LADFFA website. The grayling were elusive but I had my first ever river rainbows, not one but two, within 5 mins of each other About a 1.5lb each. They were cheeky and very spirited chappies to be fair, even though they shouldn't be in there - I'm assuming Uttoxeter FF haven't stocked 'bows for a few years? That was my first visit to the Rocester beat, we fished both rivers, some very nice water there

Was glad I had a 4x4 with brand new tyres though. On the way there there was a handful of abandoned cars from the night before strewn along the A518 from Stafford to Uttoxeter and there was 4 to 5" snow in the field when we got there (and still there when we left).

Jeff

Yes you need waders and sledge hammer would be useful. We won't need the loppers/saw though.

I think that Uttoxetor stock every year with rainbows.

Scratch the working party this weekend - do to the weather we can't get the bundles to site.

So it looks like we will need to postpone until the next one - 26th feb
