Its just that I have asked PAAS to join the WTT.
I am hoping the union between the two groups will see these small streams looked after properly in future rather than just being turned in when the help of a huge organisation such as PAAS is needed most. Get my drift?

Default Current Conditions!

Hi Guys. Haven't been out for a while but thinking of wetting a line tomorrow p.m. Are the rivers fishable after the rain in particular the Dove / Churnet Thanks.

I tried to fish monday and came home.

It's rained since but was thinking the same thing - I normally check the trent and go from there - it's not the perfect indicator.

Riverline says 0.08 above and falling - Monday was 0.13 above and rising

Does anyone know anything else?

Default Broken my duck !!

After a few blanks (too many to admit to !) I broke my Hamps duck today. And, whilst retaining some humility, it was in style (by my standards anyway) and well worth the wait.

Had three fish, one small trout, a grayling that was around 1 1/4lb and a beautiful brownie over 2lb (all safely returned after being chance to recover in the case of the bigger fish). All came to dry fly, two to a cdc f-fly and one, the big trout, to a grey wulff.

A lot of mayfly coming off as well as other fly life (not experienced enough to tell!) and the river looking in good condition. Not a lot of different areas where fish seemed to be rising though.

Maybe one explanation was the goosander that was a long was away from me but still turned tail and went the other way as soon as it saw me.

I don't expect a full blown explanation but what, in a nutshell, can you do to improve the quality of fishing on rivers like the Hamps. I've finally caught on there today but there doesn't seem to be a lot of fish in there (unlike Bentley Brook for example). It would be a shame to stock and ruin the wild nature of the place. But there is loads of fly-life on there so clearly enough to support a good head of fish. I've seen a goosander today (and a heron) and have been told about mink in the area, will these ahve done substantial damage?

Went out with Kev on Sat to the churnet.

Good signs on the churnet loads of flylife - but not many fish showing. Plenty of yellow mays and also bumped into this fellow:

Moved onto the dove plenty of may's coming off and had a good afternoon, The Goosanders have a nice new family!

Bumped into this guy on the dove

Also catching quite a few fish with deformed/damaged pectorals, - they are not blued - so wil or somebody elses stock - any ideas?

Wnet back to teh dove yesterday evening - so ten fish from there this wekened all taken on the crystal river lunns particular or a brown cdc emerger.

I had 4 hrs on the Dove last night and nine fish - first two of the year on a mayfly pattern.

Others were taken on the Lunn's Particular and a CDC emerger. The trout were a mixture of sizes and wild/stocked - a couple had stunted pectorals.

There are 7 goosander chicks. If anyone's interested to know. I know where they sleep.
