It's some years since I was a BCAA member, but I found that the stretches upstream of Steeton were a better bet for trout than those below, although the Aire still held a good head of chub plus decent pike, at least up to about Bradley.
Never many grayling, and those caught usually came from the Bradley to Cononley stretch. However the river is now a lot cleaner, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them moving downstream.
The pick of the trout and grayling fishing (fish up to 3lb) was in the upper Aire though from Skipton up to Gargrave. BCAA, sometimes jointly with other angling clubs, had water in this area and at Carleton Bridge, but I'm not sure what they own up there now.
If you've still got access I'd be up there like a shot if it's trout and grayling you want.
