Thumbs up Dry Fly Expert

The thoughts, ideas and experiences of that champion of all things above the meniscus are at last available at dryflyexpert. As a long term contributor to Waterlog under his Derbyshire Diary, Regular Rod can now be found at the click of a button.

Thank you for the link - a really enjoyable read by that long-handled landing-net wielding Regular Rod.

I keep going back to the site to see the main photograph . I'll never forget Doc Cohen turning up at home one evening with a 8lb trout he caught from that pool (well before 2003 C&R).

Can't get photobucket and this forum to combine so a post on my blog will have to do.

There you go Doc Cohen's trout "hot-linked" to the full sized version in the blog.

Both blogs now firmly placed in my favourites - thank you very much Warren.

ps. I expected a Lathkill 8 lb brown to be slightly 'redder' as per Charles Cotton's early prose.

Thank you for the link.

I supposed you could only come to that conclusion with the information I gave. Cohens' fish was from just below the impassable 2 000 year old natural tufa barrage. Cottons' fishes were from above and therefore not linked to the Lower Lathkill, Wye, Derwent etc. The fact that the true Lathkill fish were cut off for 2 000 years produced 'tis said, the reddest and best trouts in England'.
