Hi

Has anyone fished the Fergus at Ennis ? I've heard its a decent dry fly water, anyone got any reports/tips ?

Aye, it's good dry fly water, although it's tidal as far up as Ennis, might be better off a bit farther up around The Cut and Templemaley. The browns aren't huge but they're willing and there are good hatched of fly (no mayfly, even though it's a limestone river)

It's also quite popular with worm-drowners around Ennis (it gets a fair run of grilse, used to be springers too, but I haven't fished it recently)

I fished it just below Lough Inchiquin. Crystal clear water, ranunculus, large brown trout. Free fishing. Glorious. Unfortunately that was in 1977. No idea what it's like now. Fear the worst.
