Default River Ure/ Algae.

Scrambled around yesterday afternoon.,. no flies as per normal, so knocked a few spiders etc up. Looking forward to an evening on the Ure at Ripon !, only to find it like pea soup ..... the pools were an absolute no go !, luckily the faster shallows were clearer so i did manage a cast or three !

Sorry for poor pics. and you carn't notice the algae from a distance, when you get to the bankside you soon can.

North Bridge Pool........... A definate no no .

The shallow/ clearer runs below the bridge were full { and i mean full } of fish !!

Even whilst taking the above photo this little trout and teeny graying couldn't help doubling up on the spiders !

A good sign !....... plenty of better sized grayling showing....... the Ure { were i am } has struggled for a few years, looks good ahead.

A rushed fluro. P+0 that hardly ever fails .

I've got me hat on Matt !

Nowt wrong with that Fred.......cack hook like, but nice tying

Know what you mean about the colour tho. The upper Lune is similar - and that's a river which rarely colours up in low water......and my local Ribble is snotted up altogether. We actually had a slight lift - 6" or so - towards the end of the week, but the only effect it had was to dislodge some of the weed and allow it to drift mid water. The result was an almost unfishable river.

Add to that the fact that our beat had a minor fish kill a few weeks ago (low flows meant that an abbattoir's discharge wasn't getting fully diluted and about 50 fish died of oxygen deprivation), and mink and cormorants are all over t'shop. It's all a bit depressing really

Keep plugging away,
Matt
