I got this mesage sent thru by Nidderdale AC :
"The Nidd is closed to fishing from teh weir above the C&R to the downstream limit of the club waters - no day tickets are being issued and the fishing upstream from the Weir is only open to members. There has been a viral infection at the nerby trout farm. All fish have been destroyed and the place is bring disinfected. Tests are being carried out on all fish farms and the river is being elecro-fished to determine the extent of the outbreak. This could take a number of weeks.

Unless we write to the contrary the river will re-open on 1st July"

This trout infection could be serious.

MAFF (or whoever they are now) have imposed a 1 month ban on fish movements whilst they test all fish held in fish farms. This viral infection affects the liver and kills the fish in 24-48 hours.

I hope that the Nidd is not too badly infected and that the virus is contained.
