go to Ludlow, the river fishing through the town centre is free of charge and there are some nice graying below the weir. Ask at the Orvis shop in the town centre :-)

The Gamefishers Club - Club Waters

also if you can travel to Herefordshire/Monmouthshire, try the link at the bottom of my page. Check out the Monnow thread in the rivers section.

It doesn't take me long (from Stafford) to get to the Dee near Llangollen. Try Cefn Mawr for a cheap day ticket on an excellent stretch of the Dee (tickets from the Country Park visitors centre or from the cycle shop on the main street at Cefn Mawr).

Other than that, it would take less than an hour to reach some great rivers in Derbyshire - the Dove, Derwent, Wye, Churnet.

As a Silhillian I resent being called a "Brummie"

There is plenty to go at but unfortunately it all involves travelling and the horrendous cost of fuel limits my outings to any decent rivers.

However, the Blythe at Packington is stocked with rainbows. If you are a member of the fishery it will cost you £40 a year, unlimited C&R. £80 if you are not. Pretty little river, not overfished, but it can't compare with the places referred to in earlier posts.

Default Gamefishers & Hereford

Hi Gibbos
By all means drop me a pm. The Gamefishers are a good bunch. There is plenty of fishing out this way - but as you were from Hereford originally I expect you knew that already. If you join up, let me/us know and we can show you the ropes if needed.
