Many thanks to those who responded to my previous post. I am planning to fish the Derbyshire Wye inseptember but i was wondering what sort of patterns / dressings especially dry flies i should carry. I normally fish the river in April when Dark Olives are the normal fayre, but as yet i have never fished it towards the end of the season.

You've got the grayling as well as the trout to target in September and little flies like Sturdy's Fancy prove to be very good. The year is moving full circle so your Large Dark Olives will once more be of use to you but the Wye is no different from anywhere else in that it is always best to match the hatch. Come with a good choice of flies and keep your eyes open to make sure you can find out what is happening in front of you on the day.
