Its definately worth a go for trout. I've caught some nice looking wild fish up to 12oz there by accident when fishing for chub and the chub and dace should be good fun as well. The ones I caught were on the stretch that flows though the park in the town centre. I also had a look upstream where there is a weir and it flows near to the A31. There's some OK water up there but it would need a short light rod (7ft #2 or so) to take advantage of it. If you got in and waded upstream of the weir I reckon you could have a nice day.

Cheers Dave - spent about two hours down towards the Shepherd & Flock roundabout last night. Was targeting a nice brownie I've seen a few times now but without much success. Managed two Chub though which was great fun - bigger ones proving more of a challenge. Only downside is the nettle population which has resulted in very red tingling arms this morning ! Have had a look at the stretch near the weir as well - will definitely be giving this a go
