So now we have a rogue group of members that do not have the rights to fish for Salmon (the crown does not just hand them out to anyone you know) who are trying to negotiate a right that does not exist. Even if the "new club" negotiates some kind of right for lesser species from the landowner RKAA members can still legally fish the stretch as they have a permit that actually allows them to fish for Salmon. This will put additional stresses on the RKAA as they will now have to police another clubs water in case they are fishing for salmon.
Additionally the boundaries that they are trying to claim are much more than the Caledonian Estate actually own - so I would imagine the CE are a bit peed off as well
Additionally - I am assuming that this "new club" will be reaping the benefits of the habitat survey that the RKKA are partly funding - personally I think every RKKA member should be thoroughly annoyed at this situation. The RKKA have a £20 permit to assist in paying for the crown estate lease and to help improve the river through habitat survey (and consequently improvement) as well as fund guys if they want to get put through a bailiff course - so if you have paid £20 for the "new club" I would be asking serious questions about where that cash is going.
Oh, and I know for a fact that the Crown Estate has been in contact with this "new club" and told them to withdraw all their permits from sale - so I suggest if you have bought a ticket then you seek a refund.
Anyone want to join my club by the way - the "Dawsholm Angling Club" - a guy fixing a street light gave me permission - you can catch a dozen salmon a day, use as many rod rests as you like and are allowed to use explosives.
