Default kirkintilloch angling association

kirkintilloch angling association to take on upper kelvin rights for brown trout fishing, has anyone heard anything on this ,and i thought that the river being under one association was a better situation for the river to move forward ,as i have heard that problems are created on the Clyde through the different clubs,, as when one is trying to do something good for the river if another club disagrees then its tits up.

as you can probably assume i am not the most confident in river association matters and fishing rights etc!!! so if anyone can help me by letting me know whats going on their and what your opinion is on the matter if you have one and are interested in the running and progress of the river kelvin i would be most grateful .

Derek,
This is what has been posted on the RKAA site
Kirkintilloch Angling Association. |

It appears Paul is talking to them about it but won't have any impact if you have an RKAA permit from the sounds of it. Wonder if you know who might be involved in is ? The man with so many personalities he could fill a room himself.

The situation is simple. The Kelvin AA have the salmon/sea trout rights from the Crown for 99% of the river including the stretch mentioned. Any riparian owner can issue permits for his/her stretch of land to fish for trout. They may not fish for migratory fish except with a RKAA permit.
As far as I believe the pasts of the river mentioned would fall under various riparian owners.
possibly,
Hayston Golf course????
East Dumbartonshire Council
Caledonian Estates
Mr Allan Differ, (Birdston)
Mr Colin Murray (inchbelle)
etc etc.
Whoever these people are, who have started this Kirkintilloch club, I wonder what they hope to achieve?

So now we have a rogue group of members that do not have the rights to fish for Salmon (the crown does not just hand them out to anyone you know) who are trying to negotiate a right that does not exist. Even if the "new club" negotiates some kind of right for lesser species from the landowner RKAA members can still legally fish the stretch as they have a permit that actually allows them to fish for Salmon. This will put additional stresses on the RKAA as they will now have to police another clubs water in case they are fishing for salmon.

Additionally the boundaries that they are trying to claim are much more than the Caledonian Estate actually own - so I would imagine the CE are a bit peed off as well

Additionally - I am assuming that this "new club" will be reaping the benefits of the habitat survey that the RKKA are partly funding - personally I think every RKKA member should be thoroughly annoyed at this situation. The RKKA have a £20 permit to assist in paying for the crown estate lease and to help improve the river through habitat survey (and consequently improvement) as well as fund guys if they want to get put through a bailiff course - so if you have paid £20 for the "new club" I would be asking serious questions about where that cash is going.

Oh, and I know for a fact that the Crown Estate has been in contact with this "new club" and told them to withdraw all their permits from sale - so I suggest if you have bought a ticket then you seek a refund.

Anyone want to join my club by the way - the "Dawsholm Angling Club" - a guy fixing a street light gave me permission - you can catch a dozen salmon a day, use as many rod rests as you like and are allowed to use explosives.
