With all the rain recently the Swale has been high most of the time and fishing difficult. However, if it's not coloured ther is always an odd fish to be got on the Richmond AC water. personaally I'd give it a rest until the rains abate and the water drops a bit.

I went to Kiplin yesterday and it too was well up, at least 4' from last week, Saw the Swale was well up and the Tees was up too but not onto the bank at Croft yet, I have'nt fished the rivers for a few years, so was wondering how well they fish now? used to catch some nice Grayling from both rivers, and Chub.

The Swale can fish really well for Greyling when the water's right. If conditions are good there are plenty fish, but anything over a pound is big. However, in high water the fish get spread around and the best areas aren't accessible, so it can be hard work. However, if your not looking for big fish then I'd recommend trying a day or two when the water drops. Around Easby or Great Langton are probably the best areas.

Where are the best places round Easby? I had a walk down to the old railway bridge recently but couldn't see where one gets access downriver.

The pools around the bridge itself are good. alternatively follow the path downstream on the left bank to red house farm. Downstream of here are several good pools, although they are particulalry difficult to fish in high water. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
