Default Rivers on North Wals/Cheshire Border

Can anyone recommend any decent river fishing available on day ticket on the North Wales/Cheshire Border. It needs to be fairly handy to Chester so I can fish in the evenings after work.

Thanks in advance.

I believe that there is some club water on the River Alyn that runs through Mold and Cefn y Bedd to enter the Dee near Farndon between Wrexham and Chester. It has stocked rainbows and wild browns. There is also day ticket water on the Ceiriog a little further away near Chirk.

Years ago I used to fish the river Gowy at Mickle Trafford just outside Chester on the Northwich/Delamere Rd. Not fantastic fishing but certainly good enough for wetting a fly after work. Have a google and soemthing may turm up!

Like Sewinbasher, I would recommend the Ceiriog - it is a lovely little river flowing through some fantastic scenery. Up near Glyn Ceiriog and Llanarmon DC its stunning.

With regard to the Welsh Dee, good fly water is a little thin on the ground on the lower reaches but have a look around Bangor on Dee as there are a couple of local clubs with access to water. Try the Post Office for details.

The Prince Albert AS has quite a lot of water not too far away but there is a wating list of about two years at present.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think i'd like to give the Ceiriog a try. I've found a website that gives contact names for a couple of day ticket stretches. It also mentions the Alyn aswell so I may also try that one night.

The Alyn and Gowy stretches are run by Warrington Anglers.ST only but it's only ~£30 a year.Lots of stretches of river in this area,Dee,Dove,Severn and several others.Never fly fished but intend to.Oh,there's a joining fee too, around £20 I think.Try this link.www.warrington-anglers.org.uk/

How about the river Alyn at Rossett. Only £47 for the season and only 10mins from Chester.Have a look at their Web site www.rossett-flyfishers.co.uk
