Environment Agency - Rivercall

EA Rivercall will give you a daily level, temperature and trend (rising, falling etc) but the readings are only taken once a day, and I think they are recorded at 1 minute past midnight so it can change a lot by the time you come to fish especially on the Severn and Avon. If its really critical you get more up to date info than that you could do worse than phone a pub on the river! Or tackle shop in the area.

Default What river info?

I think it's good in today's technological times that there are so many measuring stations on our rivers and yet we cannot get river level info over the web. Surely the authorities collate all this info into their data banks, so my little cells say it would not be a big task to make this available within graphs on the EA website. I suppose we cannot expect too much from ST other than perhaps the closure of the rivers (only joking ST...honest).
The 'Visit Wales' website gives access to river level information throughout Wales (which may have to be taken with a pinch of salt) but at least it gives us a clue.

Perhaps an official could pass comment.

Here is an extract of an article that appeared in Octobers Trout & Salmon.
Many of those who fish north of the border, will be familiar with SEPA river level data, that is updated daily. But what about those who would fish a falling water on the Tyne, Wear,Severn, Lune, and other English and Welsh rivers?. They have not had access to a similar scheme.
Now the EA is stepping in with a promise to make "real time" data for about 2000 river level monitoring sites, available, free to non commercial users, from early 2010. Data from individual sites will be accessed via a web-based interface.

Dont know when it will come on line
Regards Lunesman
