Default Middleham, R. Ure

My club that I am with has fishing just above Middleham on the River Ure. Does anyone know if the fishing is good? What species of fish is there?

I have driven up there once last year, with no fishing tackle, it is tree lined but there are a few places where you can fly fish. From where I was standing the current was slow moving, I don't know if there are any fast currents as I didn't walk along the bank.

Any help would be much appreciated!

From the 'Yorkshire Dales Angling Guide' by Laurence Tetley:
Some of the best fishing for barbel, chub, grayling and trout on the middle reaches of the Ure can be had in the Middleham deeps, about 1 mile upstream from Middleham Bridge. The chub are particularly worth trying for. Try a dry fly, a big one and you will need a strong leader because the fish can reach for pound and takes will be weighty. The day ticket water on the left bank commences one field above the Bridge and runs downstream to the stone wall a mile below. This mixed fishery is a fine stretch regularly producing barbel to 8 pounds, chub to 4 pounds and trout to about 1.5 pounds. It also holds dace, grayling, roach and pike.
