For dry flies - parachute Adams, black Klinkhammer, various F-flies, Griffiths Gnat. I usually fish with sizes 14-10, with 16 and 18 most often used.

For nymphs - gold head hares ears, PTN and olive nymphs in sizes 14-18.

For wet flies, a selection of spider patterns and the good old Greenwells Glory are hard to beat.

All the above are for brown trout. On the rare occasions I fish for sea trout I usually try an Alexandria or a Butcher.

Cheers.

Agree 100% with wjd on the nymphs. Dries are good staples too but I also like DOuble Badgers, Adams - thorax style, balck gnats and little grannoms. Try spider patterns for rough stream fishing - Snipe and Purple and Marhc Browns are lovely

Also, for the trout and grayling, don't forget the Hare's Ear bodied "F" Fly in sizes 12, 14, 16, 18 & 20.
Great all around emerger pattern.
